Safety Rules

Ryze Power is committed to excellence in Health & Safety to prevent harm to people. To support this commitment, we foster a positive organisational culture underpinned by clearly defined standards. Our Safety Rules are fundamental, enduring principles that are proven to save lives. Compliance with them is mandatory across all Ryze Power sites.

Bypassing Safety Controls

  • Safety critical equipment & procedures must be understood.
  • Authorisation required before: overriding or disabling controls or equipment, deviating from procedures, or crossing barriers.

Work Authorisation

  • All activities must be risk assessed.
  • Work only to be completed by authorised personnel, with a valid PTW if required.
  • Appropriate risk controls are to be identified, understood by all & fully implemented.
  • Stop work & re-assess risks if conditions change.

Confined Space

  • Identify all confined spaces.
  • Understand & control the risks, including isolation & atmospheric monitoring.
  • Only enter if authorised.

Working at Height

  • Avoid working at height where possible.
  • Avoid using ladders where practicable.
  • Use only appropriate, inspected & fit-for-service equipment.
  • Secure tools & equipment to prevent dropped objects.
  • Tie off to approved anchor points if outside protected areas.

Driving

  • Drivers must:
    • be licenced, authorised & insured to drive the vehicle
    • be fit-to-drive, rested & fully alert
    • plan journeys & follow the Highway Code.
  • Vehicles must be roadworthy.

Control Ignition Sources

  • Smoke in designated areas only.
  • No ignition sources in zoned areas unless risks are assessed, controlled & approved.

Energy Isolation

  • Isolations must be planned & executed by competent personnel.
  • Stored energy must be discharged.
  • Isolation points must be proven, secured & monitored.

Drugs & Alcohol

  • Consuming or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol whilst working or driving is prohibited.

Safe Mechanical Lifting

  • Competent personnel to plan & execute all lifts.
  • Control lift areas – never walk under suspended loads.
  • Inspect all equipment & loads to ensure it’s fit-for-purpose.

Management of Change

All changes must be:

  • clearly defined, risk assessed, planned & controlled
  • compliant to Ryze Power procedure
  • communicated appropriately to stakeholders
  • appropriately authorised & fully documented.
